Welcome!

The late poet, feminist, mother, activist Audre Lorde once stated that our silence would not protect us when it comes to the victimization, objectification, and marginalization of Black women living in America. This silence includes that which endures within the Black community surrounding acquantance rape, date rape, and/or stranger rape. This site aims to dismantle this silence.

SilenceWillNotProtectYou.com was created as an interactive method to educate the world on the way that silence aids to perpetuate sexual assault within many communities, but specifically the African American female community.

Our site provides a variety of resources that are necessary to educate the community, elicit action, and eventually eradicate the heightened level of sexual assault perpetuated against African American women and girls.

“When we speak we are afraid our words will not be heard or welcomed. But when we are silent, we are still afraid. So it is better to speak.”
